My new best friend in my purse

I finished reading the book, the vicious cycle, and it REALLY helped me get my diet started. I am not a cook and this new way of planning had me sooo confused. I lived on slices of cheese, eggs, bell peppers and almond butter in Tupperware. This I could handle. Now I carry my book in my purse, so I am never without it. I use the "legal list of foods" for everything I buy. Just yesterday, I was buying garlic and was trying to choose paste, fresh, or whole. I checked the ingredients in paste and found citric acid and soyoil. I checked my book and no soy products allowed. Saves me a lot of stress. Buy the paperback as it is small and light and easy to carry all the time. As far as the actual reading of the book material. I understood a lot of it and that was helpful. Some of it was just way over my head. I think it is ok to skim over the whys of molecules, etc.I could not find this on ebook for the ipad, only the kindle. Kind of glad though as it is easier to grab the book than bring it all up for an ebook.

Great cookbook.

Fabulous!!! Makes it easy and delicious, and broadens our menu. Makes the SCD protocol more fun and "normal" too. Nice large print, with some encouraging photos too. The SCD diet has made a gigantic difference in our son's gut health and brain fog.

Very rarely do I find many recipes in one book that I really use. This one was an exception. I have made so many of the recipes and they are so easy to make. Highly recommended book.

A boy imagines himself sharing his grandfather's trip to the moon, the subject of his favorite bedtime story. After blasting off from Florida, the pair drives around the moon in a buggy, collects dust and rock samples, and erects an American flag. Gaffney's (Chuck Yeager) simple, serviceable prose converts scientific details into experiential descriptions, as in this account of dropping a rock: "It falls in slow motion to the ground. Dust splashes up around it and falls back like water." The description of the sky?"There is no air on the moon to make the sky blue. Space and black sky come right down to the ground"?carries a similar sense of wonder. Root's (Wan Hu Is in the Stars) watercolor and gouache paintings create striking lighting effects, whether for cozy bedtime scenes in the boy's room, the bright billowing pastel clouds of the take-off or the still dim surface of the moon. Root captures especially well the camaraderie between the two moon walkers, their shared excitement visible even beneath space helmets. The text is perfect, reflecting no doubt the most frequently asked questions of those who have experienced space travel, and moonwalking in particular: Where does the capsule sit on the rocket? How long does it take to get to the moon? What does the surface of the moon look like? Root's watercolor and gouache paintings focus on the factual information and yet the art has the feeling of an imaginary experience and captures the wishful thinking of a curious child. Emerging readers can make this experience their own because the visual clues and the vocabulary are so carefully scripted. The premise of fondly recalling the public's total attention to the first manned space flights and reliving it through the intergenerational episode may not work for all audiences since the child is so easily transported to the historic event?leaving behind the uniqueness, the training, and the risk involved. You'll need the Errata and Git

Seems that the code examples in the book have problems, which means the examples you're reading have errors. You'll want to refer to the actual working examples on github.

Additionally, be forewarned that Kindle Reader software screws with copy'n'paste -- both in that it doesn't treat spaces and spaces AND that it appends the book information as well. Bottom line, if you think you're going to copy'n'paste example code or commands, you're going to be HIGHLY frustrated.

Best D3 book so far!

I have read quite a few books / tutorials on D3.js, and this is by far the best. It is concise, thorough, and doesn't waste time on stupid things that most readers already know. If you want to learn to code your own visualizations in D3 instead of simply reusing others' code, then get this book now -- it covers essential things that are not easily learnt elsewhere, and in a very systematic way, despite being called a "cookbook".

This is it!

There are tons of free tutorials and books out on the web, but none of them match the depth and richness of this Cookbook. The author explains the concepts really well and the code examples are concise and pretty awesome. If you want to dig deeper and really understand D3.js, this book is the best resource.

The first five chapters deal with the basics (selection, data binding, scales, axes). Even if you've never heard of D3, I think you can manage to get through quite well. Next in line are Transitions, SVG, Charts and Layouts where again the explanations but also the great code examples drive the point home. In the last third of the chapter more advanced topics like interaction, force, maps and even testing (!) are discussed.

If you either want to get started with D3.js or are already intermediate or even a ninja, this book will serve you well as an entry point, a medium for further development or a reference guide.

Prowse's book is the better of the two

I read every existing Security+ book available, because I did not have the two years experience, but I concentrated mostly on this book and Darril Gibson's. I read this book over, and then reviewed it about three times, and two times for Darril's book. Prowse's book is the better of the two, but I don't think studying from one book alone is likely to get you to the point of passing the test. These two books seem to be the best for studying from though. I spent a LOT of time studying, and used an application I created to review questions, by randomizing them and reviewing over whatever I missed, and continuing to do so until there was just nothing left to study. I took the test today and scored an 805/900, passing it with a pretty wide margin . . . . failing would have been no fun at that price, and be sure you get a voucher so you are not paying full price. I also used a lot of you tube videos, including Professor Messer. I did not watch every Professor Messer video, I just watched the ones that had concepts I was having difficulty with, and, I found other videos just by searching for whatever subject I needed to reinforce. You absolutely have to know this material inside out to pass this test, it is no walk in the park.

I took my Security+ test yesterday and passed it with a nice 811. It took me four weeks studying to achieve to pass. I like the book because it is easy to understand and the added bonus of having a DVD was a plus. I would have liked it to have scenarios based questions on the DVD not just questions and answers. I only used that took to prep me for the test. DO NOT ONLY USE or TRY TO MEMORIZE the prep questions on the DVD or the test will be very hard for you to pass. What I mean is: study and more importantly understand the materials in the book.

This book is the only book I studied for my Security+ exam. It is an easy read and paced well. You can read a chapter or two a day and not feel you are being overworked. I bought this book, which came with a DVD that gives simulations and other study gems. I then purchased the PDF version and extras for 70% off. All total 50 bucks for what I feel is the best study resource available. I also purchased the CompTia CertMaster training which was also very helpful, you can get this at a reduced rate when you purchase your test voucher. I scored 814 and I could not have done it without this book. Thank you David for writing and producing the materials that helped me achieve my goal!

I want to address the people who are giving this book bad reviews. You must not have read or taken advantage of the resources this book provides. If you think you are going to buy this book for the questions and answers and only study them to pass, you might as well take that cash and flush it! The purpose of this book is to get you familiar with the "MATERIAL" on the test. The practice questions in this resource only break it down. The actual test is a whole other animal. You may see a total of 5 questions that are in this study guide. You need to study and understand the content of the test. You have to take this seriously or you will fail. Thanks again David!
