Dr. Lauren Wright discusses a timely and fascinating topic; she reports on the role and influence of presidential spouses in White House communications. Grounded in empirical research findings, and in depth interviews with members of previous presidential staff, she shines light on the intimate relationship between our country's First Ladies, the messages they convey, and the American citizens' ebbs and flows in political views. Dr. Wright tackles a novel topic, which to date, remains understudied. Her message and delivery is clear and compelling. This book serves as a tremendous resource for both the lay citizen and academic scholar. Ten stars for a 5 star review!

Wonderful book that takes a scholarly approach to understanding the role of first ladies. The book is packed with information from interviews with former White House staff, speech analyses, and surveys. Absolutely fascinating, groundbreaking, and intelligible. Highly recommended for any person interested in political science or communications!!!
