Evidence based and current - includes research, theory and practice application

This is a good review of fetal monitoring using updated evidence-based standards. The references are up to date, current terminology is explained and out of date terminology is noted along with reasons (e.g. lack of evidence) for discontinuing said terminology. Each chapter builds upon information in previous chapters in a logical and succinct manner.

One specific comment that I have: Chapter 6 describes the 3-tier fetal heart rate classification system as well as an ABCD plan for FHR assessment and management. Miller refers to and summarizes the 2013 Clark et al article regarding management of Category II FHR tracings - and while the summary is helpful, it is long and wordy. Perhaps for copyright reasons, the Clark et al algorithms could not be included in the Miller book; the algorithms are visually more easy to follow than are the long narratives (particularly on pages 156 - 158).

Lastly, while it is generally understood that the focus of the book is on electronic fetal heart rate monitoring, it would be helpful to expand the chapter dedicated to intermittent auscultation. I'd love to see an analysis of different auscultation methods ranging from the hand-held doppler to perhaps the age old Pinard! As well, it would be great to include a visual algorithm detailing how to manage abnormalities ascertained with IA.

In summary, this is a great resource for professionals who care for pregnant women. The book is pocket sized and could easily be used (almost) at the bedside. It is a valuable addition to my library.

Great resource for any health care provider in OB.

This book was extremely helpful. I purchased it before I took Lisa Miller's EFM advanced review course and I definitely benefitted from reading it ahead of time. The practice review in the back of the book was a good guideline of where I needed to focus my study. I recommend this pocket guide no matter what your OB experience is.

Sensational beautiful story by the talented Suzan Tisdale. This one will melt your heart so beautifully written

In this story originally in The Scrolls of Cridhe, Highland Winds, Volume one is about a woman Moirra with Four daughter looks for a temporary husband to help with her small farm until the harvest and then he is free to leave. So in other words in a marriage in name only although Morirra who has had several husbands already is no maid and doesn't seem To object to the idea of sharing a blanket with this handsome strange whom she call John Pilory since he won't share his true name. after all that is where she met. She also has secrets and does not know about that John Pilory odes not know.

John Pilory is running away from his past well to be honest he was kicked out puf his clan by his own Father calling him a whoreson and drunk. Which was true but then a tragedy on the family changes John forever as he is not longer the whoreson, drunk his family thinks. Yet for being at the wrong p
'lace at the wrong time he is set up by thr true the true thieves and has been spending the last four day days in the Pilory to say his mood is not good is understatement. Smelling and having rotten vegetables thrown at at you is not a pleasant experience to John. When beautiful Moirra makes him an offer he just can't refuse as first raising suspicions like he is being set upon by someone's idea of a joke.
Moira worries her daughters will gets too attached to John and started to love just when it is is time for him to leave. Or is is Moirra's own heart she needs to protects and heart broke when it is time for him to leave. John seems to be able to get alone with all of Moirra's daughters excepts eldest .

What a wonderful,fast paced, mysterious and adventurous novella I can't wait to read part two of this series and really find out how things turn out for this unlikely couple. As definitely not looking too good for Morirra! I really felt for this couple as they both have not had an easy path in life yet both have a bright outlook even when thing looked really grave and it was interesting to see how they both start to blossom as they get to know each other yet they both have pasts and secrets that neither want to discuss.

I found it interesting because under normal circumstances they would never have met as John brought up in wealth and Moirra just a little above poverty. I actually found Moirra teaching John life's lessons. Yet what happens after the harvest do they go there separate ways or do they decide to get a chance and open their hearts and take a chance on that thing called love. Something neither one is that familiar with.

Another sensational book by Suzan Tisdale you won't want to miss this one!

I was happy to discover another one of Suzan Tisdale's books

I was happy to discover another one of Suzan Tisdale's books! After reading her Clan MacDougall and Clan Graham series, I'm a fan. This was a short read, but instantly drew me in with the unusual beginning. I like that her characters are very like able, but aren't perfect, they have faults and shadows in their past. In this book John / Alyssander and Moirra aren't rich, titled, favored or starry eyed virgins, they are both adults who have lived life with both happiness and losses. Although it's great escapism to get lost in a good historical romance, it makes the characters more interesting and multi-faceted. I found myself definitely rooting for this little family and look forward to their on-going adventures.

Pendragon is a rich, character-driven game set in dark age Britain. The game focuses much more on character development, story, history, and the other facets of a true game.

This book is a complete campaign--more than one, actually. It is 90+ years of adventures and scenarios. Each scenario comprises 1 or more game sessions. Do the math: there's a ton of information and playing ideas in this book.

If you like King Arthur, faerie magic, and the whole mystique of that mythos - and you like RPG - then pick up this and the Pendragon rulebook immediately.

Absolutely breathtaking. As the gamemaster, I've only taken my players through the first section (the Uther Pendragon period), and they are ecstatic. Seasoned gamers (25+ years of experience) are calling this the best campaign they have ever played. This has a truly epic scope to it - at least two years of real-world play that builds, and builds and builds. It is intoxicating and profound.

Where Luck and Choice Meet

I found this to be more than a lively true-life adventure story--it demonstrated to me the impact of both luck and choice in the life of a man who had a deep need for adventure. Luck--the bad kind--might've contributed to Hinton's dad backing out of a promise he made to his son in 1906. But choice--ultimately an excellent one--found Hinton reacting to that broken promise by packing his bags and leaving his home in Ohio's farm country at the age of 16, looking for excitement. Burns' account of the first flight across the Atlantic, with Hinton as pilot, is compelling, full of the spirit of the early aviators, and shows us that Hinton definitely fulfilled his plan for adventure. Tales of Hinton's many other adventures, and his tireless promotion of flying, draw a clear and detailed portrait of one of aviation's lesser-known pioneers.

A True Revelation

Everyone knows that Jimmy Stewart, er, Charles Lindbergh was the first to successfully fly across the Atlantic, right? Not so! Having been an aviation enthusiast since early childhood, I thought I knew most everything about planes, pilots and aviation firsts. How fascinating to find that one of the most revered feats in aviation history was accomplished not in a single engine monoplane by one man but rather in a four engine biplane flying boat with Walter Hinton at the controls aided by a crew of five.

This book is an absolute must for any aviation enthusiast's library. It's full of fascinating, well-researched biographical facts about Hinton as well as detailed descriptions of aircraft, in-flight procedures and historical accounts of all of Hinton's accomplishments. Definitely well worth the price!

Really interesting!!!

I just got a copy of this book and have started reading it. It is well written with lots of details. I really like some of the pictures - it is amazing to me that Hinton and his navy team were able to cross the Atlantic in that plane and I am enjoying the story of how they accomplished that feat, as well as the more personal side of Walter Hinton's life. Walter Hinton was one of the early pioneers in American aviation and yet not many people know his name.
